What Are Some Common Issues Faced by Users of mihon?

  • Loader not implemented.

If you see this problem, it means that the extension you need for the manga is not yet installed on your device. So, you need to install the required extension by following the steps mentioned earlier. If it is still showing Loader not implemented, try uninstalling the existing extension and reinstall it again.

  • Java.lang Exception: Challenge not found

This problem usually gets eliminated if you force-quit Mihon and then reopen it.

  • java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException or Chain validation failed

If you face this issue, it dictates that there is something unsettling about the source certificate validation. You may use any online service to check whether the site’s certificate has already expired or not. If it has already expired, you must wait for the site owner to renew it. You should also set correct time and date on your phone. The chain validation failed problem might also get resolved if you clear cache files. Go to your phone’s Settings and then click on Advanced, and tap on Clear Cookies and Clear Cache. If it still appears, try restarting your smartphone or switch to another internet connection.

  • App Not Installed

Differing signatures may contribute to showing this problem. To get rid of it, you need to backup all the data and uninstall the app and then install it again to restore all the data.

  • Cannot Access SD Card

The SD card access error is usually caused by a file or folder name that is too long. Android’s file manager can’t support file names longer than 255 characters. If you know the name of the offending file or folder, you can connect your SD card to your computer and create a shortcut. Otherwise, delete the mihon download folder from your SD card.

  • Attempt to invoke virtual method ‘com.hippo.unifile’

Trying to call the virtual process ‘com.hippo.unifile…’ error can happen for many reasons, but they are all storage related. Usually caused by full storage. Check if your device or SD card is full. Make sure Mihon can access your SD card. You can enable it in Android settings for app permissions. If you see this error while downloading the app, it means that the application is not able to access the folder you are trying to download. This happens because the folder is corrupted or does not exist. Use File Manager to verify that the folder exists and that all system folders exist and are valid. The drive you wrote to is damaged. Use your data manager to see if it’s valid.

Unable to resolve host / Connection failed

  • Errors such as Unable to resolve host or Failed to connect mean that something is preventing your connection to the site.

Possible reasons are:

  • Your Internet connection is not good enough to connect. The application cannot access the Internet.
  • Your ISP has blocked your site.
  • The site is down currently.

To resolve this issue, you can go to the Settings of your phone and click on Advance. And then switch DNS over HTTPS.

  • HTTP error 429 (Too Many Requests)

The HTTP 429 or Too Many Requests error means that your IP address has been blocked by the origin (which is usually temporary). Consider migrating your manga to another site to reduce the number of requests to the site.

  • HTTP error 5xx

The HTTP 5xx error, such as 500, 502, etc., is a server error and there is a problem with the source you are trying to access. Open the site in WebView public and know whether the site is down or not.

  • Storage issues with Android 11

After the introduction of Scoped Storage (opens a new window) in Android 11, your library is slow or your application cannot delete the received section.

One way to fix this problem is to run the Open a New Window (ADB) command on your computer to remove your app for updates. How to Run ADB

ADB is a small tool included with the Android SDK as part of “Platform Tools”.

Please go through the steps below to download ADB –

  • If you use Windows, Linux or Mac, you must download the SDK platform tools.
  • Now, extract the zip file like C:\platform-tools.
  • Now open the Settings on your phone.
  • Then go to the About Phone section and quickly press seven times on the Build number.
  • You will notice a prompt saying “you’re a developer now”.
  • Go back and open the Developer options.
  • Find out USB debugging/Android debugging and enable it.
  • Now connect your phone with your computer with a USB cord.
  • Press the allow button when the prompt “USB debugging/Android debugging” shows on screen.
  • Open the folder named Platform Tools on your PC.
  • Select the Open Command Prompt here or Open Powershell Window here after pressing select+right click.
  • Type the command .\adb devices
  • Press Enter
  • You will be able to notice an entry with your device now. So, it’s time enter the ADB command.
  • ADB command

\adb shell cmd appops set eu.kanade.mihon android:legacy_storage allow

Mihon preview –

  • eu.kanade.mihon.debug

Diagnosis –

  • You must ensure that all the extensions are updated. To know that, simply go to Browse and see if your extensions have an Update button beside them.
  • You also need to verify if the mihon app has a new version. Update it immediately.
  • Don’t forget to check for the Webview update also. If a cloudflare protection is enabled, you need to wait till it finishes loading. Solve the Captcha and try to launch Mihon once again.
  • You may also switch to another internet connection.
  • You may try force closing Mihon, clearing cache files and reopening the app to see if the issue is resolved or not.
  • If you are the only user having this issue, please check out the next section of the article named “it only happens to me”. Otherwise, take a look at the “everyone is having this problem” section.

It Only Happens to Me –

You may be under Cloudflare protection, your IP address may be restricted, or you may be bypassing other protective web hosts used against programs such as Mihon. If so, maybe nothing from Mihon can fix it. Some, like Cloudflare, need to be addressed individually, and some are temporary (IP blocking).

However, follow these tips below to decrease the chances of encountering this problem.

  • Stop using Downloads with the source.
  • Add less amount of manga inside your manga library.

Everyone is Having this Problem

If you are fully able to connect to the site and it works fine, there’s may be problem with your extension or app.

  • Take a look at the open issues for the app (opens a new window) and/or the Mihon extension (opens a new window) for anime extensions.
  • Also take a look at the Close (App (opens in a new window) / Mihon Extension (opens in a new window) as this may be a patched tab but not yet released .
  • If you can’t find your issue here, open a new issue.
  • If you can’t connect to the site or are having problems, you can wait for the site to work again.
